Alex Verhaest (b. 1985, Brussels) has won the Ultimas prize 2022 for Digital Art category. The Flemish culture prize (Utlimas) was established in 2003. Since then, the Flemish government has awarded 13 prizes every year in diverse categories of the arts, to leading artists and organisations in recognition of the cultural importance of their work.
Verhaest explores the narrative possibilities of art using innovative technology, with focus on the nature and limitations of communicative methods and their surrounding social conventions.
