Artist Talk X Garden Party

June 11, 2022

Barakat Contemporary presents The Archive of Unattained Futures, Alex Verhaest’s (b. 1985, Belgium) first solo exhibition in Korea and Asia at large from June 8 to July 31, 2022, in the Barakat Seoul location (58-4 Samcheong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul). The exhibition displays ambitious new works developed by the artist for the past three years: The Archivist (2022), a 60-channel interactive video installation in which archival images from various public domains are transformed and composited, and Ad Hominem (2022), a video game, which philosophically interrogates utopian thinking. The works together elaborate a ludic cinematic space, an interactive science fiction film. Interweaving them is Change, the protagonist of the story. Here, Change, which by definition is the act or the instance of difference in states, is not the overarching force that advances the plot. There is a body to it, the one that travels across time and converses with strangers and old friends.

There will be an artist talk and a small garden party
on June 11th (Sat) from 4 to 8 PM.

Please RSVP to the link below. (Restricted to 50 persons)
