Nicky Nodjoumi in "A Boundless Drop to a Boundless Ocean" at Orlando Museum of Art

Nicky Nodjoumi, world-renowned artist who has explored the theme of “power” through his paintings, is participating in the group exhibition “A Boundless Drop to a Boundless Ocean” held in collaboration between the Orlando Museum of Art and the American University in Cairo. Showcasing works by artists of Arab and Iranian descent working in the United States, the exhibition’s title is taken from the bestselling book by the Lebanese-American poet and artist Khalil Gibran. As “A Boundless Drop to a Boundless Ocean” suggests, the exhibition transverses cultural, linguistic, and social boundaries, highlighting diaspora artists who have developed a unique visual language from complex histories of migration, the aftermath of social upheaval and conflict, and senses of belonging.

“The drawing is a statement about the immediate conditions of a place, an anti-war statement. It’s the panoramic quality of the scene I was interested in, the impact of the ruins, the relationship of the part to the whole.” – Nicky Nodjoumi
